Golden Sun Villas

The facilities were in very poor shape. Yellow stains lined the pool and jacuzzi, and in the bungalow the shower door was unstable, with parts falling off when touched. Both trash bins were broken. The kitchen utensils were dirty, damaged, and rusty, and the only coffee pot was so corroded we didn’t dare use it. There were cobwebs and spiders on the walls, and none of the windows had screens. The prefabricated wooden hut, called a “bungalow,” wasn’t a pleasant place to stay. One window faced a chemical toilet and an outdoor “gym,” with a constant bad smell. The other looked onto a cluttered area of tires, cables, metal frames, and a green net. The door handle fell off as soon as we tried to enter. Our arrival was disorganized too. Nobody was there to greet us, and after several unanswered calls we finally got through to the owner. He casually reminded us that he deserves to enjoy a swim too. That set the tone for an extremely disappointing stay.

The owner and staff were great. He was funny, polite, always ready to help, and checked whether we needed anything. The villas are very clean and reasonably priced, with a nice pool and jacuzzi. It’s a quiet spot away from the noise, and the air conditioning handled the scorching heat. Just don’t come expecting luxury.

The bungalows are really just embarrassing cabins, set far from the villa. There’s a fence only a meter from the entrance, with snake poison placed next to the door. In the room, cleaning was very superficial, and I kept finding ants and spiders each day. The bathroom is extremely small, and there was no hot water at all in the morning. The rooms also looked neglected compared with the booking photos, with furniture that was degraded and very worn.
