Villa Danai

Marilena & Danai, keep it up. The owners are absolutely lovely, the rooms are clean, and it's a peaceful place to relax. The beach is about a ten-minute walk. I loved having breakfast or a glass of wine on the balcony. Some small repairs will need doing sooner or later, but they didn't take away from the holiday. I can recommend the place. 👍👍👍

Our top-floor studio looked out toward the nearby mountains and partly toward the sea. Waking up to that view was fantastic. The balcony was a good size, with a table, two chairs and a curtain for shade. Since we came with friends, we could open the doors between our balconies and spend time together as if we were in one big apartment. The studios are modern and well equipped: effective new air conditioning, mosquito nets, a TV if you want one (we didn't), and plenty of dishes, cookware, an oven and a cooker for making meals or coffee. The whole building has been renovated, and Michalis tends the flower-filled garden and fruit trees each evening. Our hosts, Marilena, Michalis and their daughters Katerina and Danai, made us feel at home throughout our 14 days at Villa Danai in Agios Georgios Pagon. They were always ready to help, and we loved chatting about Greek culture and traditions as well as our own. We arrived as guests and left as friends. Agios Georgios is a mostly quiet village with a few supermarkets, many good restaurants and a large, lovely beach. The nearest supermarket is about a three-minute walk away, near the beach entrance. We especially liked Blue Heaven for its fish platter and traditional Greek food. You can rent two sunbeds and an umbrella for 7 euro a day, or find a more secluded spot. For us, the best part of the beach was near the entrance by Tony's supermarket, just a short walk down a gentle hill from the apartment. There are two car or motorbike rental places, a disco bar called Butterfly, and an entertainment center with bowling, billiards and other games about two minutes away. We had trouble finding an ATM that worked, but there is one near San George cafe. One of Corfu's best attractions, Porto Timoni beach, can be reached with a 1.5-hour walk or by taking a boat transfer directly from the beach. We spent our whole 14-day stay here and were amazed by the place and the hospitality. We can't remember another place we've recommended this strongly. Our score is more than 10/10!

Agios Georgios beach is lovely, with clear water, good snorkeling and fairly cheap sunbeds and umbrellas. It gets deep quite quickly, so it isn't really suitable for little kids. You can arrange a water taxi to Porto Timoni beach. There are several restaurants and supermarkets nearby. The location is convenient, about five to ten minutes from the beach, restaurants and shops. Parking was easy, either on the street or in the private lot. The hostess was incredibly friendly and helpful. The apartment was clean and nicely furnished, with comfortable beds, everything needed for day-to-day living and modern air conditioning that worked perfectly. The balcony is large, with a lovely view of the greenery. Our bathroom was small but entirely usable. Nothing really bothered me, though a few things are good to know: the bathroom, especially the shower, is quite small; the hotel sits on a hillside, so getting around the grounds and into town takes a reasonable level of fitness. Wi-Fi was okay but not very fast, and there wasn't much storage beyond a wardrobe and small bedside tables. You can use a washing machine for a small fee, but bring your own detergent.
