Hotel Porto Plaza Beach Resort

There were empty beaches about 100m away, and the location was great. We hired a car through the hotel for 40 euros for two days and drove around the island, finding secluded beaches with clear water and lovely restaurants with friendly people. Back at the hotel, the room was cleaned perfectly, the staff were nice, and the food and service were excellent. It’s a small hotel with a beautiful dining room terrace. My only reservation was that there were few fish options on the menu. I recommend it.

We had a lovely family holiday here. The beach is an easy walk, child friendly, pretty and not crowded, and breakfast was nice too. Staff were friendly and sorted things out as they came up. We also tried a few nearby places for lunch and dinner, and the food was great. We’d recommend staying here and will be back.

The only real positive for us was how polite the staff were. We spent 10 nights here with an infant, and the stay was a huge disappointment. It’s expensive and, in my view, offers very little. The hotel is about 150m from the beach, which is convenient, but the uphill walk is steep, around 30-40degree, and unpleasant in the heat. Sound carries badly between rooms, and the owner's grandson, a 6 year old boy, was often shouting and running around, waking our baby. The photos on booking made the place look appealing, with a pool, nice rooms and a restaurant with a view. We expected to eat there in the evenings while our baby slept, since going out wasn’t really an option for us. But the restaurant only operates in the morning. The included breakfast was poor quality and almost exactly the same for all 11 days. There wasn’t anywhere else to eat early, so we were stuck with it. The owner also owns a tavern, and if you want dinner, you have to order takeaway from there. It arrives in boxes, without being put on plates, which was annoying. Since the restaurant with the view closes after breakfast, we had to eat in the lobby. The pool is much smaller than the pictures suggest, with only 10 sun loungers for 38 rooms, so it gets busy. The staff, apart from one person, barely understood English, especially at the pool bar. This is nowhere near a 4 star hotel and is super overpriced. Stay away.

The rooms are a good size, with comfortable beds and a nice porch. It’s a relaxing spot for sunbathing, with a fine pool. Breakfast changes a bit each day, alongside the usual meat, eggs and cheese.
