Santa Maria Rooms

The owners, a man and his mother, were friendly and responsive, and the rooms look out over the sea and forest. There is a yard where you can park, but the house is in the forest, about 3-4 kilometers outside Agios Nikitas. That is about all I can say in its favor. The rooms are very small, barely enough for two people, with old furniture and poor hygiene. The mattresses are rock hard, and the old air conditioner cools but makes a lot of noise. Animals are noisy too, so sleeping is difficult. The bathroom is awful: very old, unpleasant-smelling, with a moldy curtain, black joints, weak water pressure, and water that is often cold. They didn't clean the rooms or change the sheets during our stay. We had to ask for fresh sheets on the fourth day. We barely got through our stay. I don't recommend it, look for somewhere else.

The rooms sit in a lovely spot with a sea view, about 4 km from Agios Nikitas. That distance is handy if you want to visit beaches on the other side of Lefkada, since you can avoid the traffic jams quickly.

The terrace was a real highlight, with a great sea and sunset view, and two chairs and a table where we could eat. The big parking area was handy, and the location worked well for visiting the western beaches. Air conditioning was included and worked very well. Our bed sheets were changed on day five. There were serious cleaning and water problems, though. The toilet was extremely dirty, there was mold in it, and we had to clean the tiles, faucet, sink, and disgusting fridge ourselves. The shower had almost no pressure and no hot water when other guests were using water. There are 12 rooms, so this was an issue. We also couldn't use the shared kitchen downstairs freely. On July 29th, we tried to bake pre-cooked pizzas, but the owner's mother stopped us. The owner told us on WhatsApp that the oven was only for fast food and might cause electrical problems in all the rooms. Nobody had told us this when we arrived, so we had to throw away the pizzas and lost money because of the owner's negligence. The whole place needs a thorough clean.

A peaceful, restful place with a lovely view to the south. Our room was clean and had everything we needed. Mary, the host, was so kind and helpful, a sweet girl! Thank you, Maria, and your mother for the warm hospitality, your courtesy, the plants, and the oranges! :) We will surely return to Santa Maria Rooms. Mihail and Mihaela
