We keep coming back, six stays so far, and have been happy with everything each time. Pano and Dina are a lovely couple who are always around if you need help. The place is handy for the beach, with plenty of nice restaurants an easy walk away. The maisonettes have what you need for a holiday. There’s a fully equipped kitchen and dining table downstairs, along with a sofa bed, TV, and bathroom with a shower. Outside, the ground-floor balcony is sheltered and has comfortable seats. Upstairs is a large bedroom that can fit a double and two singles, or a cot, plus a bathroom with a shower and bath. There’s also an upstairs balcony with a table, chairs, and somewhere to dry swimwear. I can’t recommend it enough.

The houses and apartments were clean, roomy, and welcoming, and we felt at home there. The hosts are genuinely kind and work incredibly hard, so please be considerate of them. You can walk to the beach, supermarket, taverns, restaurants, and beach bars. Laganas’ main street and nightlife are also walkable, at least if you’re sober, but the house is far enough away to hear the cicadas at night in the olive garden. The hosts were amazing, too.

The wooden bridge was the bit I’d seen in so many photos and videos, so it was nice to finally get there. Agios Sostis beach is a small beach on the south side of Zakynthos, with a short bridge leading to a private island resort. It’s about a 20-minute drive from the Port of Zakinthos. The conditions were poor, and the listing on Booking said it could accommodate four people, which wasn’t true. In reality there was only a bed and a couch in the hallway. The air conditioning also didn’t cool properly, since there was no door to the room.
