Valais Hotel

The location made it easy to see a lot of the island. We took a boat tour around half of it, and Xigia Sulfur Beach and the Blue Caves were among the places we most wanted to see. Alikanas is close enough to reach lots of places by renting a Quad, which we could park free at the hotel to keep it safe from thieves. The beach itself is just 10 steps away. You can rent beach chairs for 25€ a day for two people, or bring towels and lie on the sand for free. They also offer boat tours, jetski and speed boat rides. We made good use of the huge hotel pool and its loungers at no charge, and free beach towels were available too. For snacks and drinks by the pool, just press a button and the restaurant staff come to take and bring your order. There were always enough free chairs. The pool and restaurant stayed fairly quiet, which made it relaxing. The tourist centre is a five minute walk up the road, with quad and car rentals, supermarkets, pharmacies, a doctor, bars, restaurants and souvenir shops. The restaurant was a pleasant surprise. The staff were lovely, and there was a big choice of meals, snacks and drinks. Hotel guests get 10% off everything. After a few days, we found nearby restaurants weren't really cheaper, and their food often wasn't as good, so we ate here quite often. Breakfast had a nice range of options. You order it each morning rather than having a buffet, and it was under 10€ for a fair amount of food and good quality. Our double bedroom had a balcony, a little fridge and free air conditioning. It was clean and in a condition and style we were fully happy with. Even balconies without a pool or ocean view had a decent outlook over the garden. The room was cleaned daily, with fresh towels, toilet paper, coffee, cups and neat sheets each time. Reception quickly sorted any small problems. We always felt safe here. What made the stay especially nice was how warm and helpful everyone was, from reception and the cleaners to the restaurant staff. They were sweet, genuinely interested and did their best to make us comfortable. We want to thank Valais Hotel for the lovely time and memories. It made our first couple's holiday together amazing, and we'll be back!
