Meandros

We only booked the week before after a cancellation, and it worked out perfectly for the two of us. The plan was beach all day, then dinner out, and the place suited that well. It’s basic, with limited space and no luxury, but spotless, with a good shower, fridge, WiFi and great air conditioning. The best part is how close it is to a lovely sandy beach, with calm, clear, shallow water. Book directly with Meandros. Giannis, Anna and their family are lovely.

The owners and the people looking after this little place gave great service. It’s well situated in town, just a short distance from the beach and everything else, and you can walk to it all.

The room was very clean, with good Wi-Fi and air conditioning that worked well. The bathroom was a little small, but the TV was decent and had 13 Greek channels. We had two small twin beds, with barely enough space for a portable bed, though they did manage to fit one in. Maiandros is much closer to the beach than the pictures and maps suggest. From our balcony overlooking the water, we estimated about 250 feet, or 80 meters, to the sand. One issue with booking through Priceline was that the website let us enter the number of adults but not the children, then said children were welcome at no extra cost. After our seven-day stay, I was told they didn’t accept credit cards, so I had to rush to Chania to find somewhere to change money. Apart from that, it was a very nice place to stay.

The family who run hotel Meandros were all very kind, and the apartment was clean. Everything was about a 50-meter walk away, which made the location just right. One of the best hotel experiences we’ve had. I’d recommend it to anyone!
