Althea Traditional 4star Hotel

Konstantina is a charming host, friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. We’ve stayed here twice already, and God willing, we’ll return for a third. The hotel makes a great base for exploring this lovely island, and our week there was a wonderfully relaxing break from the hurly-burly back in the UK. We only wish we could have stayed longer. Set at the edge of the charming old town, it has lovely views over the town and coast. The rooms are stylish, with clean modern lines that don’t feel fussy. The amenities, including the linen, shower fittings, and hot water, are very good. Breakfast is excellent and served on a delightful balcony overlooking the old town.

We had a lovely four-night stay at Althea in a sea-view room. It felt like a peaceful little oasis, with comfortable rooms, thoughtful design, and nice places to sit and enjoy the sunset. The old-town setting is convenient, though there isn’t a beach right nearby. Parking and a bus stop are close, so it’s easy to get around the rest of the island. The staff were kind and accommodating, and we enjoyed the breakfast. We hope to return to this island oasis.

The little extras were a nice touch, from the hairdryer and slippers to coffee facilities and even mosquito tablets. Breakfast was lovely in the pretty courtyard. It’s a shame the small cafe wasn’t open for cocktails, since the courtyard is such a relaxing place to sit and look over the old town. Our room had a plunge pool and a stunning view. It was cosy, with a really comfortable bed and wonderful pillows. The shower stayed hot and had great pressure, which was especially welcome in stormy weather. The hotel is tucked into the town’s lovely old streets and has fantastic views. I’d recommend it without hesitation. Astrofegia taverna next door was the best meal we had on the island, so it was very handy.

We fell completely in love with Alonissos this summer and added an extra night to enjoy the old town. Since it wasn’t high season, we managed to get a last-minute room at Althea, and it was just perfect. Bright and beautiful, it opened onto two patios, with town views on one side and Skopelos across the sea on the other. There’s a lovely cafe on the property, where they serve a wonderful breakfast. The service was absolutely charming, and the location is hard to beat, right at the top of the hill by the entrance to town. It was a wonderful place to stay while we explored the charming old town.
