Athos Bay Villa

The owners’ conduct made an already unpleasant stay even worse. After we’d paid through 6 September and left for another accommodation, my husband returned to find the lock changed. When he asked why nobody had told us, they said, “Because you are not inside. If you return, we will give you the keys.” They eventually gave him a new set. The owner also accused me of “cooking” in the apartment, which has a kitchen, though I’d only made cornflakes for our child. We stayed at Atos Bay Villa in Ammouliani in late August 2025 with our 3-year-old daughter. The apartment had an unbearable smell, which the owners tried to cover with strong perfume, and they dismissed us when we complained. The terrace wasn’t private as advertised. It was right on the staircase passage, and their attempt at privacy was a single chair in the middle. That was unsafe and awkward with a small child. On the second day, we asked for half our payment back for the remaining 5 of 10 days so we could move. They refused, so we had to leave and pay for another place ourselves. It was an extremely unpleasant experience, with poor accommodation conditions and unprofessional, even hostile behavior from the owners. One good thing came out of it: we met wonderful locals on Ammouliani who were kind and supportive, and showed us the true spirit of Greek hospitality. They were the silver lining. We don’t recommend Atos Bay Villa. Ammouliani is a beautiful island with many genuine, warm hosts, but this place doesn’t reflect that spirit.

The villas sit up high, so there’s a panoramic sea view, and it’s easy to reach beaches around the island. The village is only a short walk away, though the spot itself is quiet and relaxing. Our room was exceptionally clean and comfortable, and the host made us feel at home with a warm welcome and lots of help. We couldn’t have been happier with our stay at Athos Bay Villa in Ammouliani, and would highly recommend it.

Waking up to Mount Athos rising in front of you is something else. The pool is spotless and has a great view, and the whole place is peaceful. Our room was clean and comfortable, and the owners were very polite and helped with whatever we needed. Thank you for everything. This is the place to be on the island.

The rooms are spacious enough, well equipped, clean, and in wonderful condition. If you’d rather swim in the sea than use the island’s only pool, one of the best beaches is 2 minutes away by car or 10 minutes on foot. You can have breakfast at Athos Bay Villa and get on with your day, or ask the owners for a late-night drink. They’re incredibly welcoming and lovely people. This has become our must-stay place in the region. Cheers to them!
