Classic Apartments

We spent most of the week out of the apartment because it was so horrible. There was no food or drink service, and room service happened only once all week. The pool was dirty and about the size of reception, so it felt utterly pointless. The front gate was difficult to open, and the painted slope was slippery. We fell there every day coming in. This was the most unprofessional, disgusting hotel service I’ve ever experienced. Every local seemed to know a bad story about it. Don’t be fooled by the pictures! We had just one toilet roll for seven days and had to provide our own after that. There was no hand soap, and when we asked, the staff member said, “we’re a 2 star hotel provide your own”. Silverfish were coming out of the tiles. We were put in a horrible back room overlooking cars. When we asked to upgrade, they refused and said we should feel lucky to have a room with three beds, even though we had requested and paid for three beds. There was only one working plug socket, and the staff were rude and unprofessional when we raised it. You also have to pay €30 for air, as they don’t provide it, and there’s no hairdryer either.

The service was great and I really liked the place. There’s a pool and a kitchen in the apartment, and the hotel is nice and close to the beach, about a 15-minute walk.

I had a very peaceful holiday and enjoyed my time here, but I wouldn’t come back. It’s too far out for me, and as a woman staying alone I didn’t feel safe walking back after dark. On an unlit road, a man in a car propositioned me to get in with him. Luckily I was on the phone with my partner, who heard it too. This wasn’t the accommodation’s fault, but it’s something single women should know about. The couple running the place now are lovely and friendly, and made me feel welcome. The location is nicely away from the hustle and bustle, but there isn’t much on offer. The pool bar closes at 6pm, so for an evening drink you need to stock your own fridge. The only food option is toasties, with no breakfast or lunch. The rooms are tired but usable and need updating, even if it’s just fresh paint and more modern furniture. It feels like this place had better days and is now run down. With some imagination, the bar could become a relaxed spot for guests who don’t want to make the schlep into Anissaras, with chilled music, homemade Greek food, and a place to meet people. It has what it needs to be a gold mine, but the owner doesn’t seem to have the enthusiasm. I was sitting by the pool thinking about all the possibilities this place could have.

We were fed like kings by a lovely family and had a wonderful time. The little apartments are Instagram-worthy, each with the feel of its own small house xx
