Lala Cottage

The apartment was tastefully furnished, spotlessly clean, and had good quality bedding. Its peaceful setting and magnificent sea-view terrace made for a fantastic stay. I highly recommend it 😀

I can't recommend Lala Cottage in Corfu. For what we paid, I expected more than a roof over our heads. If the apartment had some charm and felt cozy, perhaps the remote setting and lack of amenities nearby would have been easier to accept. As it is, there was little to make the stay special or even pleasant. Getting there was difficult, especially after dark: the roads from Corfu Town, about 20 km away, are narrow and poorly kept. The small village felt bleak, with many run-down homes and no shops or restaurants. The nearest discount supermarket is 8 km away, which made cooking for ourselves awkward. The village can’t be reached by car, either, so from the parking area we had to carry our luggage about 150 meters along unpaved paths. The apartment was clean and had two bedrooms, a kitchen-diner, and a large terrace with a distant sea view. But the view didn’t make up for the tired, basic furnishings or the general neglected feel. None of the rooms felt inviting, and the bathroom especially needs renovation. The kitchen was hardly set up for cooking, with outdated equipment and no modern appliances apart from the dishwasher. The terrace could have been a bright spot, but it was in poor shape too. The parasol needed tacks to hold it together, and the view also took in the village’s dilapidated houses and rooftops. Most of the window and door mosquito nets were broken, so they offered little protection. The furniture wasn’t antique or stylish, just old and low quality. Even sitting outside in the evening, there was no real comfort inside. Not recommended.
