Elia Traditional Hotel & Spa

We had our own terrace with sun beds and a table in an upstairs guest house, and the rooms are furnished beautifully. There are also hammocks, chairs and tables around the grounds, with lots of space for sitting in the sun or shade. The pool has lovely views, and the whole place is very quiet. Breakfast was great, and dinner was excellent: several high-quality courses with wine, at a very good price, served on the raised terrace with a fantastic view. The staff were friendly and helpful. We stayed in July '23, and this was one of the most relaxed places we've ever been on vacation. For once, we'd come to Crete just to stay somewhere like this. It's peaceful and away from tourism, but still easy to get around by car. I can highly recommend Elia Traditional Hotel & Spa.

The location is peaceful but also a handy starting point for exploring the island. Breakfast had a good variety of fresh, locally sourced food, and there are dinner options too, with delicious home-style cooking. We spent three wonderful weeks at Elia Hotel & Spa and have just returned. The room and setting were beautiful, and the staff were friendly and always happy to answer questions. I hope we can come back someday.

The rooms are so comfortable that we felt at home right away. Breakfast was high quality and had everything we could ask for, and the evening dinner was delicious too. We thought the hotel was in the city of Platanias, rather than the 'region' of Platanias. That mix-up turned into the best vacation mistake we've ever made. My girlfriend puts it among the top 4 hotels we've stayed at in Europe, on a par overall with 5 star facilities elsewhere. The grounds and terraces are gorgeous, the rooms are clean and full of character, and the staff are pleasant. There's even a friendly cat. Just delightful.
