Areti Hotel

This is the hardest rating I've ever given. The hotel exterior, grounds, and pool were pristine and modern, and looked like a fun place to spend the summer. The balcony view was fantastic. There were plenty of spots for luggage, a tiny safe, and a hair dryer that I assume worked, though I didn't try it. The safe wouldn't fit computers. Our room #2 was a completely different story, like a 1950’s New York tenement. The twin beds were just springs, with no mattress or mattress pad. It was a new experience I don't want to repeat. Almost everything inside was old and run down, and the bedspread was stained when we pulled it down. The room might have been clean, but it was so worn that I couldn't really tell. There was no coffee in the room, though I usually see it provided at hotels. We also didn't find hand or bath soap. When we asked, the owners were happy to bring some, so I can only assume the maid forgot. The owners themselves were very nice, and I can only hope they'll bring the rooms up to the standard of the exterior. There's no screen door, so we couldn't leave the balcony door open overnight and had to run the A/C to stay cool. We normally stay up until midnight, but went to bed at 9, hoping to forget the surroundings as soon as possible. It was quiet for sleeping until a rooster started crowing about an hour before dawn.
