Eco Villa Belena for Nature & Wine Lovers

Archanes comes alive around 830pm, and its many supermarkets, coffee shops, and restaurants make the square a great place to eat with family. It takes no more than ten minutes to walk there from the villa. If booking, try the website directly, since we found it significantly cheaper than AirBnB. Heraklion airport is a 20-minute transfer, which cost us 60€ for six people. My family and I stayed 11 nights in mid-August'22. The villa is spacious and lovely, and seems to have had a recent refurbishment. The AirBnB photos look more up to date than those on other sites. Popi, the host and housekeeper, was fantastic and went out of her way to help. She even did a bit of shopping so we’d have groceries and drinks when we arrived. She speaks great English, which helped since my Greek is non-existent. Outside there’s a good-sized pool, an orchard, and a pizza oven and fire pit. The views across Archanes and toward Mt Juktas(?) are exceptional. Inside, there’s air conditioning, underfloor heating and cooling, a well-presented, functional kitchen, and lots of living space. The clean, tidy bedrooms include one main suite and tow rooms that can sleep multiple guests. Smart TVs are throughout, and there’s Wi-Fi inside and outside.

A lovely house in a wonderful traditional village. It’s generally a reliable place to stay. The one drawback is finding it: there’s no sign with the villa’s name and no bell, so it’s hard to tell which house it is.
