I had an extremely unpleasant stay at Meridien Hotel. There were 7 people in our group, but only 3 were allowed to remain at the hotel. The others were sent to another hotel for one night, supposedly because of pipe problems. In our triple room, the shower drain was almost completely blocked and water backed up. At the other hotel, we waited a long time for the staff to wake up. When someone finally gave us a room, they tried to put all 4 of us in one room instead of the two double rooms we needed. The rooms we eventually got were beside the laundry room and garbage bins. Moving the bins outside in the middle of the night was awful, then from 6 am the cleaning staff slammed doors, laughed, and spoke very loudly, on top of the washing machines. It was exhausting and completely unprofessional. I do not recommend it.

The only real downside was no English breakfast, and the bar closed at 7pm, though there are plenty of bars and places to eat nearby. It’s a nice hotel with clean rooms that were tidied every day, fresh bedding and new towels. The bar and reception staff were helpful.

We were moved to another hotel on the first day because they said there was no room available, even though we’d booked well in advance. When we eventually checked in at Meridien, our room was right beside the laundry room. I came on holiday to relax, not to hear maids laughing in the hall and slamming doors at 6 in the morning, or garbage bins being moved under our window at 1 a.m. We won’t return or recommend this hotel.

The hotel’s location and view are nice, but I can’t recommend it because of how the staff handled a frightening incident and the other problems we had. A drunken guest in the next room had been swearing on the balcony for 2 hours. When we asked him to be quieter at midnight, he broke our room door and punched my partner. The only staff member came after the attack. He didn’t call the Police, asked us not to call the Police, and said nothing to the attacker. He just moved us to a room on another side of the hotel. We were told the Manager would speak with us in the morning, but the Manager wasn’t there and avoided us for the rest of our stay. The attacker left the next day, and it felt like they had no reason to do anything. I wonder what they would have done if he’d had more nights there. The receptionist seemed a little amused (!!) by how shocked we were and said there was nothing they could do. What if the guy had a weapon? We all had a chicinete with knives, forks, glasses, and so on. We could have been seriously hurt. We got absolutely no support from the hotel after this horrible event. The rooms are outdated, the bathroom needs refurbishing, with some mold around the tub, dated faucets, and a standard of cleanliness that wasn’t good enough. Breakfast was the same every day, with a fixed amount of ham, cheese, bread, and so on. The coffee was horrible, and they charged extra if you asked for another kind, cappucino for example. Rooms with doors facing the main street are noisy, and you can hear neighbors talking or using the restroom. I don't recommend it because the staff showed no responsibility, on top of all the other issues.

I’ve stayed here for the past 2 years and think it’s great value if you want a cheaper place that’s still clean. The rooms are basic but cleaned every day, and the pool area is regularly cleaned and maintained. Sunbeds are well placed right by the sea, and there’s a gate at the back if you want to go for a dip. There’s also lift access. The staff are very welcoming and polite. The location is good, with lots of restaurants nearby and a shop almost next door. We paid €10 a day for air con in low season, though I’m not sure what it costs in high season. I’d definitely recommend it.
