Hotel Palmyra

The staff were lovely, and so was the hotel. Breakfast was great, just what you need in the morning. The pool bar did fantastic food.

George at the pool bar made some of the best cocktails we had on the island, and the reception and room service teams were great too. The cleaning was exceptional, and the huge bed was really comfortable. Breakfast tasted good, though it was the same each day and got boring. We’ve just come back from a week at the Palmyra Hotel. It’s a good place, but some basic extras and maintenance would improve it. There was a kettle and cups but no tea, coffee, milk or sugar, and no water in the fridge when we arrived. The shower looked impressive, but its big square head leaked and soaked the bathroom unless we put a towel by the entrance. The bathroom door was awkward, the TV was tiny, and both air conditioning and the safe cost extra.

We found the location peaceful and handy for getting around Zakynthos. There are restaurants and shops close by, and the sea is within walking distance. We hired a 300cc scooter from Olympic just around the corner, which made exploring easy. The water was fantastic for swimming and relaxing during our ten days in June. The weather was warm but comfortable. The reception staff were a real highlight, especially Matina, who was kind, helpful, and always ready to answer questions. The hotel was very clean and well maintained. Our room was basic and had an extra third bed we didn’t need. We also thought air conditioning should be included, and it was a little inconvenient that pool bar charges couldn’t be put on our room. We’re a Belgian couple in our 50s, and we’d happily stay at Hotel Palmyra again.

Miss Marina Tsiasioti was especially lovely and helped arrange delivery of my medication. The staff were great, and the hotel itself is quiet, clean and modern, right in the middle of Argassi with plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. Breakfast was tasty, though it was the usual hotel spread. The machines need attention: soft drinks tasted chemical, and the coffee was awful powdered stuff. A pod machine with fresh milk would be much better. With half board you get a voucher for a restaurant and can pick from three meals, but drinks are paid separately. It’s a nice place and I’d recommend it.
