Sunset Paradise Resort

A little away from the main strip, but we had a great stay. The family who run the place were friendly, accommodating, and helpful, and it was nice meeting such friendly people.

Michael and Bruna worked hard every day and always smiled at the guests. The beach was beautiful, though it had too many sunbeds crowded together. We found a lovely patch without any and were happy there. The walk up and down the hill is manageable if you take your time and enjoy the views and smell of the herbs. The pool area was peaceful, with plenty of sunbeds and umbrellas, and the shower and washroom block were well kept. The shaded bar and breakfast space was comfortable. We chose the B&B option, which had plenty of choices, all prepared superbly by Michael. We hadn't been told bar snacks were available during the day. We would have stayed by the pool some evenings if we'd known, so I think they're missing an opportunity by not offering or advertising them. The accommodation was basic, as is common in Greece, but we just needed a base. There was a nice seating area and balcony with a view. The bathroom was clean and had plenty of hot water each day, though the shower tray was tiny and the nylon curtain stuck to you. We asked for a mop and bucket to clear up the water, and they brought one. The bedroom was a good size and the bed was comfortable, but the wardrobe smelled damp and made our clothes feel damp by morning. We ended up living out of a suitcase and off the back of a chair. Furnishings were simple and we had what we needed. We only used the kettle, so I can't speak to the cooking facilities. I think the accommodation needs investment and could be improved to earn a better star rating.

Michael was so welcoming and friendly, and worked extremely hard. We had a lovely balcony with a sea view, and the pool area was great. The rooms were basic, as expected, but clean. The hill wasn't great, though walking down took an easy ten minutes, and the taxi back up cost 7 euros, so it wasn't a problem for us. Our first visit to Kefalonia didn't disappoint. We're just coming to the end of a relaxing week here.

The pool was clean and well maintained, bar prices were similar to other places, and the man behind the bar was lovely and helpful. Lassi is lovely, the beach is beautiful, and with a car this is a great base for visiting other parts of the island. The room maintenance was poor, and we slept very badly. The wardrobe smelled damp, so we couldn't keep clothes in it and used our suitcase instead. The mosquito problem was awful. The windows and rooms aren't designed to keep them out, and the net curtains might as well not be there. The walls were marked with previous guests' splattered mosquitoes. My partner and my five-year-old were bitten repeatedly. Please fix the windows and put in proper nets. We couldn't open the windows because it got stuffy, but mosquitoes still got in. I spent evenings jumping at the buzzing around our heads or chasing them with my partner's slider. The plug-ins don't work, and surely you know that. We still had a fab time, and the place has so much potential. Please sort these problems and we'd love to come back. Also, the music went on late into the night, which isn't ideal with young kids. Sorry to be one of those parents.
