Royal Beach Hotel

The beachside location, clean pool, and ample parking were all great. The rooms felt a little old-fashioned, though that didn't bother me. Breakfast was okay, especially the fresh fruit and yogurt, but toast was the only bread. More choice would be nice. Every day something was missing, whether cups, cutlery, butter, or bread, so guests often had to ask. The staff tried their best, but perhaps there aren't enough people to keep things running smoothly. We also asked reception for an iron over three days. The first two times they said there wasn't one, and on the third day they offered an ironing service. In our room the shower swung between very hot and cold, with no comfortable temperature in between, which wouldn't be great with kids. We had lots of aggressive mosquitoes biting us, so bring spray. Those problems are why I can only give three stars. Fix them and I'd give five.

Karpathos is fantastic, with clear water, beautiful beaches, charming villages, and such a laid-back feel that leaving is hard. I'd love to come back. The hotel was just what I needed: quiet and well organized, with a breathtaking view. My room was spotless and comfortable, and the staff were warm and friendly.

We had a lovely evening on the very spacious balcony, and the pool was beautiful too. The hotel sits in a quiet spot behind the village, close to the sea, and its large rooms and apartments make it a comfortable place to stay. The staff were helpful and very nice. A great way to enjoy Karpathos.

The staff were cheerful, friendly, and helpful the whole time. The pool area looks nice, but felt very unsafe, and although the sunset and neat drinks bar are pleasant, the place also brings you down. The rooms are run-down and barely functional. The extra bed was uncomfortable and hardly big enough for two kids. Most kitchen utensils were missing, so we bought what we needed locally. The bathroom was worn and broken in places, and the rooms didn't feel clean or cozy. The pool, lovely beach, and beach bar were highlights. There's room to play beachball and bodyboard, and the setting really does put you in holiday mode. Still, this is far too expensive for what you get, hardly a one-star experience. The staff keep the place going, but the owner seems to be squeezing the asset until it's sold or closed.
