Faros Apartments

Please don’t book this place. We reserved a night in advance because it was close to the airport, and the photos looked fine. It ended up being one of the most expensive places we stayed in Greece, yet the photos felt like false advertising. We’ve travelled a lot, including in Asia, and have stayed in places that would shock most people, but at least there the price matched the room and the pictures were honest. We showed up at the stated time on a weekday afternoon to an empty reception and nobody around. After 15 minutes, a woman arrived, took my ID, had me sign a paper, and showed us to our room. As soon as we opened the door, it was clear this wasn’t the room we’d booked. When I brought it up, she said she was only checking us in temporarily and that we’d have to wait for the owner to answer any questions. I called the owner myself. She said she was on her way and would be there in 30 minutes, but as we looked around, we got more disgusted by the minute. The apartment looked extremely old, like nothing had been replaced in years. The so-called sofa bed was basically a chunk of wood with a cover over it. The kitchen was meant to have a stove and cooking area, but the fridge barely worked and there wasn’t even a kettle. The website said there’d be a TV, but there wasn’t one. Only one of the six lights worked, there was mould in the bathroom, and the bathroom window could be opened from outside, so anyone could look in while you showered. The AC was broken and had clearly been that way for a while. There was rubbish all over the street, even outside the hotel doors. The advertised “Egyptian cotton” bedding was nowhere to be seen, and there wasn’t even a blanket for the sofa bed. The list goes on. After an hour and a half, I called again to ask whether we should keep waiting. The owner said she was on her way and would arrive in 30 minutes. Three hours later it was dark, and she still hadn’t shown up. I called numerous times, but by then she was refusing my calls. We felt foolish for spending the whole evening waiting for her. At 9:30 pm, she messaged to say she was busy and not in the office. That was enough. We texted that we were leaving, left the keys in the mailbox, and drove five minutes down the road to Efi appartements. We booked a night there, and it was cheaper and five stars compared with Faros. The service at Faros appartements was terrible, the rooms were overpriced, and there was no staff around. Please save your money and time. I honestly think this place should be shut down. They showed no respect for customers. It was our last night in Greece, and we were so disappointed. We’ll never forget this experience.
