Tholaria Boutique Hotel

The private mini pool/spa on the terrace, overlooking the Aegean, was an unforgettable part of our stay. We were in the Egeo spa suite, which was just as special in person as it looked in the photos. At the end of May it was also great vale for money. This was the best hotel of our ten-day trip to Astypalea, Amorgos and Naxos, and perhaps our best Greek hotel experience so far, on a level with the lovely Platys Gialos Hotel in Sifnos. The owners were friendly and welcoming, and fresh orange juice at breakfast was the icing on the cake. A fabulous boutique hotel on a gorgeous island.

Our host really made the stay special. They were warm, welcoming, and helpful with local tips, arranging a motorbike, and giving us lifts to and from the port. Tholaria is at the edge of town, which keeps it quiet while leaving the centre just a short walk or quick motorbike ride away. The property is beautifully designed, with breathtaking views and a peaceful feel. Our room was elegant, clean, and comfortable, and breakfast was fresh, generous, and delicious every morning. It was a perfect base for enjoying Astypalaia. We'd gladly come back and highly recommend it.

Maria met us at the port and shared tips on local attractions and getting around. We walked a lot and also used the Astybus. The staff were always happy to help, and the freshly made breakfast had a superb variety each day. We stayed for a week in July and loved the hotel, its rooms, and the views. The location worked really well, with a short walk into Town, a bakery and ice cream shop nearby, and Livadi beach in the other direction. If you're weighing up whether to book Tholaria, just go ahead. We know where we'll stay if we return to Astypalea.

Natalia and the owners are simply wonderful, and the views are incredible. The rooms are stunning too. We couldn't fault our stay, and it's among the best hotels I've been lucky enough to visit. Also, a quick shout out to Castro the dog. Beautiful pup! Astounding.
