The apartment was clean and well furnished, with two nice bedrooms. One had a walk-out balcony overlooking the street below, and a smaller walk-out balcony looked over the courtyard and parking area beneath the complex. Check-in was easy, even after a very long travel day. It's about a 10-minute walk to Petralona metro, then 15-20 minutes on the train to the Acropli (Acropolis) stop. Several good restaurants are less than 10 minutes away, and there's a grocery store about five minutes away if you want to save on meals. A great base for seeing Athens, and we'd book with them again.
The host was quick to respond, and the apartment was clean. I felt safe in the friendly neighborhood as a woman traveling alone, with the Metro and plenty of food and shopping nearby. I’d happily stay again and recommend it.
We had a stove, sink, and laundry facilities in the apartment, which came in handy, and there’s a supermarket close by. The location worked well too, about a 10-minute walk to the subway and two stops from Plaka, with a good, fairly priced restaurant right next door. Just a heads-up, this is an apartment building, not a hotel, which I hadn’t realized when booking through Expedia. Check-in was simple, with instructions sent a few days ahead. Our room was clean but so small that the three of us kept bumping into each other. Our friends, a couple, had a two-bedroom apartment for the same price. They booked through Expedia and we used TD Expedia, so I don’t know if that explains the difference. The toilet seat was broken, but we didn’t report it right away, so that was on us.
We had to find another hotel after arriving and not receiving the codes for the entrance or our room. We’d already traveled for more than 20 hours, and after waiting around two hours while our booking agent and I tried to reach the property, we gave up. With little availability at that late hour, the replacement hotel cost us a significant amount. I was later told the missing codes were due to a third-party error. I did eventually hear back by email, phone, and WhatsApp, but only 24 hours later, far too late to help with the booking. I’m glad it wasn’t late at night and that I was with my husband. Being alone as a woman could have made the situation much worse, even in a safe area. Booking directly might avoid the code issue, but the slow reply still worried me, especially since they say they’re available around the clock. Sad to leave a bad review, but it was a really unfortunate experience.
Ofeliya had sent all the check-in details before I even left the UK, which was reassuring. I stayed for a week in October, and found the apartment spacious, clean, and secure. It’s only a short walk to the Acropolis. I’d book here again on another visit to Athens.
