Lion Hotel

I booked at the last minute after needing to extend my Athens stay by one day. The location was nice and the staff were friendly, but I was disappointed when I saw the room. It and the furniture were old in a worn-out way, not a vintage classic way. The carpet looked like it had 20 years of stains on it, and the furniture, walls, kitchen, and rest of the interior reminded me of a cheap motel from the 1960s. I’d booked based on Google’s four-star description, then realized those were user review stars, not the hotel’s classification.

The hotel is in a good spot, though getting to the Acropolis still takes 40 minutes on foot. It’s really old, and things like opening and closing the balcony or windows are difficult. Still, it’s a nice place to crash for a few nights.

It felt like a safe area, and getting around was easy with two train stations and the city centre within walking distance. The apartment was spacious, clean, and had all the equipment we needed. Reception is open 24 hours. I’d stay here again.

The building feels very old, like it may not have been renovated since 19xx? Still, the room was big and clean, with Wi-Fi, hot water, a kitchen, and a balcony looking out over the city. The location was okay. We stayed on May 1, and the daytime heat was a big problem for us because there was no air conditioning.
