Eleonas Apartments

A quiet, clean place away from the tourist crowds. The bed was good too.

The owners wouldn't let us check out an hour later while our child was asleep, even though the apartment was empty and had no booking afterwards. The apartment wasn't bad, but it's a long way from the sea and you need a car to reach the nearest tavern, so the location wasn't very convenient. They also charged our card twice. We had to call the bank from abroad to cancel one payment, which cost us money, and the exchange rate meant we lost more when the refund came through. I can't recommend staying here.

The apartments themselves are very nice. I gave them a 10 on Booking because I didn't want to damage their reputation, but the owners' approach spoiled the holiday. We asked to stay until 16:00 so our child could nap instead of checking out at 12:00. They did agree, but wanted 40 euros extra, even though all the apartments were free. We didn't make a fuss, but when we left they started asking us for money we'd already paid through Booking. That seemed settled, until four hours after we'd reached another place, the same amount was charged to our credit card again. I wrote to the owner straight away, but she couldn't fix it and said the first charge had only been a hold. I don't know what kind of hold it was, but the money was taken twice. We had to call the bank and spent a lot of time, stress, and money getting one payment back, and lost some of it in currency conversion. The owner did apologize, of course, since nobody wants bad reviews. Later, as we were heading toward the airport, I asked if we could book one night with them rather than look for somewhere new. We would have paid in cash, but was told it wasn't possible to stay for one night, then offered a special rate of 90 euros per night. We'd paid 80 euros during the season, and this was outside high season. It feels like they want to operate like a big hotel chain when it comes to prices, but aren't willing to be flexible for guests. We also spent half of our first evening without electricity, with a child there. I hope the owners reconsider their approach and try to accommodate their guests more.
