We booked four weeks but left early and had to find a newly renovated room at a lovely place across the street. Our room was dirty, old, and full of spiders, mosquitoes, and cockroaches. The staff didn’t try to resolve it by cleaning again or offering another room. We offered to pay for the first night or a cancellation fee, but they weren’t willing to cooperate. The listing said the rooms had recently been renovated, yet the furniture was falling apart and the room didn’t seem to have been updated in over 10 years. I understand a room may not suit every guest, but it’s outrageous that we weren’t refunded for the nights we didn’t stay. We paid for 26 unused nights.

The only downside for me was the Wi-Fi. Our room had a balcony and everything we needed, with a really nice interior. The apartments are close to the beach, yet you don’t hear the road. There’s also a small but beautiful garden and a lovely sea view.

Room 7 had a view of the sea and the region’s iconic Araucaria that could easily belong in a five-star hotel. The place is in the middle of a garden, away from the main road, so it’s peaceful. The room was recently renovated, very well equipped for the price in Greece, and nicely put together with paintings and decorative details. The terrace had elegant armchairs, and the toaster and coffee maker were handy. Mosquitoes didn’t reach the upper floor, so we could sit outside or sleep with the window open. The air conditioner was positioned so it didn’t blow straight at the beds, and private parking was always available. It’s a good base for exploring the island by car, with Barbati in the middle of an interesting area. The nearby beach is beautiful, though the steep change in elevation is worth keeping in mind. I think the complaints about the internet are over the top. Roaming is available in the eurozone, and the view is right there, though the owner could still get a router that shares bandwidth more evenly among guests. Maybe the owner has had bad luck with picky guests. The 1, 2, and 4 ratings seem completely unfair to me, especially the recent low ratings from people from my own country. I’m glad I looked at the average instead of reading those complaints first, or I might have missed a great opportunity. For this price range in Greece, the place is well above average and worth considering.
