Danaides Studios

Dimitra made us feel very welcome, greeting us with a warm smile and leaving water, butter, jam, and Naspresso capsules for our first day. The view is very good, and cleaning is every 3 days. There's a large TV, an iron and ironing board, and an air conditioner that cools the spacious bedroom and kitchen quickly, even on extremely hot days. The room has a fully equipped kitchen and sits about five minutes on foot from restaurants, bars, a mini market, and a pharmacy. We highly recommend it for couples. Thank you, Dimitra.

We needed a car to get here, and parking is free on nearby streets. From the studio it's a five-minute walk to the beach and center. The view looks toward the mountain, and you can see the moon rise. The owners are very welcoming and friendly, and grow local fruit and vegetables. Their watermelon was sweet, and the tomatoes and onions were nice too. The apartments are cosy, with little terraces on both sides. Ours had air conditioning and a TV in each room, a small kitchen, and two mosquito devices. The bathrooms are small.

Dimitra was one of the most helpful hosts I've met. She gave us all the information we needed about the island, including beaches to visit and restaurants and food to try. We were seven friends and booked two similar apartments, which had all the amenities for a summer holiday. Danaides Studios is a five-minute walk from the center of Mpatsi. We totally recommend it for a visit to Andros!

Kalispera. I first visited Andros in May 2020, after 20 years, during covid. I'm a teacher and get 70 days off in summer, so I've had the chance to visit most of the Cyclad islands, but Andros became my favourite. I first booked a room at danaides Studios because it came up first in the results. I didn't even look at the photos, just liked the mythological name. My instinct was right, because I made a new friend here: Demetra, the owner and hostess of this beautiful place. She always smiles and gives the best advice on everything. Lots of locals know the famous beaches and villages, but Demetra knows everything. She loves her island, and you can see that everything here is made with love. I've come alone, with friends, and with family. I usually plan a weekend but always stay longer. The place and its people draw you in. My best stay was a week at the end of May, when I was doing tele-education with my students. They loved seeing a wonderful garden and the sea instead of my office wall. At noon, when the sun warms the place, the front yard is always shady, with a view of the wild, rocky mountains. I've been here six times since 2020, and this year I want to come every month to explore nature in autumn, winter, and spring. For me, danaides Studios is first of all about its people. Demetra's smile and the best Greek coffee ever. Ask her, but please, after 10. She's young and needs sleep. Her giagia makes the best froutalia and is a great storyteller. Popopo, I want to adopt her. Her pappou brings bread every morning and cooks wonderfully. Demetra's husband is an awesome, calm, dynamic Greek. I have a favourite room when I stay alone, but I won't tell 😉 I've stayed in most of the rooms. Feeling: zen, relaxation, gratitude, love. Taste: homemade jam with Greek coffee. Smells (like teen spirit): levanda, jasmine, and rosmary. Sounds: the morning rooster, the goats' bells, and of course the sea! Thank you, DEMETRA, for this wonderful experience.
