Erato Apartments

We had an easy walk to the island's square, and the view over Batsi was wonderful. The room was spotless and had hot water. The owner greeted us with local treats, offered to take us to the port on departure day, and was available throughout our stay whenever we needed information. Well done Savvas Vlamis!

We stayed in the “Thaleia” apartment as a family of five, and it was a terrible experience. The other rooms may be in better shape, but we won't return to find out. There was parking right outside, the rooms were spacious, and we were allowed to check in early. The location was good, though getting there on foot from Batsi meant climbing many steps, something we knew before booking. The view was blocked, despite the website showing otherwise for this room. Both old air conditioning units malfunctioned and had so little power that we sweated at night in the summer. Wind shook the window, which triggered the A/C sensor and disconnected it. The old toilet flush had no flow, so we had to use buckets. There were no blackout curtains, so we woke with sunrise, and there was no privacy at night with the lights on. The kitchen looked at least 30 years old, some equipment was in poor condition and some was dirty from previous use. There was no private balcony, just shared access with the neighbouring apartment. Our GPS struggled to find the place, and there are no road signs for the apartments, so it was almost impossible to locate without calling for directions. The front desk seemed understanding and nice, but none of the problems we reported, including the view, air conditioning, window, and toilet, were fixed. The owner, Mr. Vlamis, was pleasant at check-in and carried a bag into our room, but when we raised the view issue he took offense, became aggressive and unprofessional, and wouldn't listen. He told us to “take it or leave it”. We didn't see him again after that.

We spent three nights here. The balcony had a beautiful view of Batsi, and there were shops and places to eat nearby, along with a KTEL bus stop close to the room. The sandy beach near reception was free for us to use because that area belongs to the hotel company. Breakfast was spot on each day, and the room was clean, the beds comfortable, and the staff pleasant and helpful. The main drawback was the long staircase up to our room, but the view made it worth it. A very positive stay, 5/5, and I'd recommend it.

Breakfast came to our room each morning, which was a lovely touch. The room was practical, with a very comfortable mattress, and the balcony was huge with an amazing view. The location is top notch. Friendly, polite staff and great value for the price. Definitely recommended.
