Litharia Apartments Corfu by Checkin

The panorama is magnificent, and with free accommodation I could imagine sleeping here, but the place is barely better than a cave in a rock with the same view. There are heaps of rubbish everywhere, and the lodging is poor, the waiters wear fake smiles, and the prices are brutal. If you ran into these problems at Lake Balaton, you’d fill every complaint book. You put up with it here after traveling 15 hours, gaining 3 kilos, and at least being able to see the sea. There are some nice moments, but next year I’ll keep well away from Putrifalva and go to Orfű instead. It feels more like a dormitory than a hotel. The TV looks like a tablet and has only two Greek channels, neither of which shows the World Cup. The so-called bar is a terrible, basic buffet. I can’t recall seeing such a pathetic selection, even the crummiest MÁV restos have more to offer. They only have canned beer, and you have to ask separately for a glass. The glass is so cloudy you can’t see through it. This might suit tired truck drivers, drug addicts, or serial killers, but don’t bring your family. You save all year for a dream holiday and get this shabby rubbish for your money.

The hospitality was excellent, and the sea view was beautiful. The place is dated, but clean, and centrally located on the island. There’s a busy road just below, unfortunately.

The view is great and the staff are very kind. The place is showing its age and could use better care.

The hosts were friendly and the pool was nice. The internet was poor, and the place needs renovation.
