Vatsa Club

Vatsa Taverna has recently changed hands and now serves sushi along with traditional Greek dishes. The sushi was good value and good quality, though I’d have preferred to choose a selection of eight pieces instead of getting eight of the same kind. The Philippino staff are lovely. The young Greek boss who orders everyone around is annoying.

We had a romantic dinner in a lovely, quiet spot right by the beach. The location was amazing, the staff were friendly and kind, and the food was absolutely delicious, with fresh fish and great traditional Greek dishes.

The food was really delicious, and that’s the only reason I’m giving two stars. We ordered a strawberry salad, tzatziki, dark bread, fried feta with honey and fried squid. The salad was refreshing, the tzatziki mild though it could use more garlic, the homemade bread was great, and the fried feta was a surprise I hadn’t expected. Sadly, the staff made this somewhere I don’t want to return to. They didn’t speak English and couldn’t understand my order when I used the English menu names, so I had to point them out. We waited 40 minutes for the squid and asked three times, to three different waiters. Nobody could explain why it hadn’t arrived. Meanwhile, they kept bringing orders to Greek tourists one after another. It was very disappointing and made us feel like second class guests. If you’re fine with that, the food may be worth trying, but we won’t come back. A shame, because the food was great and the sea view was lovely.

We bought drinks while enjoying the perfect beach, then ended up staying all morning and having a great lunch. The seafood was fantastic, and they were very accommodating when we asked for something a little off menu for our two year old. A very welcoming place.
