To Limanaki

The staff made our three-week stay at To Limanaki hotel especially memorable. Violeta and her daughter Glykeria were so kind and welcoming, and the rooms were kept beautifully clean, with daily cleaning and fresh towels. The beds were large and comfortable. There’s a shared kitchen, and some of the larger rooms have their own. A/C was provided in the rooms. We loved the setting: a huge terrace looks out over the open sea, with a little harbor and camping area to the left. At night, the sky was full of stars, and we could hear the waves and cicadas. The Aegean water here was very clean, with colors from emerald green to turquoise. It can get windy and choppy. The mix of sea and mountain scenery was special, with lush nature and fresh air all around. We spent most days at Agio Saranta, with its rocks, trees, and white sand. It’s a 10-15 minute walk to the right. We wouldn’t recommend driving there, as the road is narrow and steep and parking is difficult. Chorefto beach is the larger option, stretching about 2 km. More generally, Pelion’s roads are very narrow and curvy, and some parts are damaged, so drive slowly and carefully from Volos. For supplies, the only market in central Chorefto was expensive. It’s worth bringing plenty with you. Zagora has a larger market with good prices and lots of parking, about 20 minutes away by car; Makrirrachi has another good one about 10 minutes away. Chorefto also has taverns and restaurants with different kinds of food. We won an online giveaway for a kayak trip and got to explore Pelion’s east coast with a local guide. It was a real adventure and a highlight of the day. We also took the Moutzouris, the old-fashioned train, through the mountains to Ano Lechonia, with views of the Pagasetic Gulf and Pelion’s west coast, then spent time in Milies, a well-known old Greek village.
