Rarakos Houses Apartments

The place we arrived at was nothing like the advertised “Luxury maisonette” we booked for our honeymoon. We booked through booking.com, and the pictures were just renders of somewhere that looked far removed from the actual property. The apartment was in very poor shape, dirty, damaged, with old furniture, and felt generally run down. We didn’t feel safe in the area, or even around the bed and sofa fabrics. There was no real check-in process. The owner gave us no customer service and seemed to operate on an arrive, dump, run, and ignore basis. We raised the condition through booking.com straight away, and the owner agreed to refund the booking. But after we found somewhere else to stay, they backed out of that agreement. Be careful, and check that you’re happy with the attached photos before booking.

We stayed five days for my parents' anniversary and completely regret choosing this place. Nobody came to show us the apartment or even tell us which one was ours. A neighbor opened the door, but first the owner insisted we pay in full before going inside. We paid and tried to make the best of it. There was no heat, and with it 2°C outside, the owner didn’t seem concerned and kept asking what the problem was. He sent the cleaning lady to deal with his issues. When we made clear we wouldn’t stay without heat, he offered the apartment next door, but it hadn’t been cleaned or prepared after the previous guests. We returned later and it smelled so strongly of cigarettes that we had to keep the windows open all day. There was barely enough hot water for one person, let alone four, and the bathtub glass was completely broken. During our stay, from Feb 6 - Feb 10, nobody asked if we needed fresh towels or serviced the apartment. When we asked for housekeeping, the owner said she was off that day. His mother brought two towels for four people and blamed us for not asking for service, without seeming concerned about our experience. Go somewhere else if you want to feel welcome, and save yourself the time and money.

We needed somewhere to sleep after a flight arriving after midnight, then leave in the morning. Rarakos Houses worked perfectly, and the staff fit us in with only a day's notice. Check-in was easy even at 01:00 in the middle of the night. The interior was fantastic, the place was beautiful, and the service was great. It seems suited to either a quick stop or a longer stay, with a great price. We were there such a short time that I can't really comment on the neighborhood. Thanks to the staff for helping us at the last minute.

Our family had a wonderful time at Rarakos House's. The houses are lovely and really comfortable, and the bathrooms feel luxurious in every way 🙂. We were there with the children, and they loved it too. There’s plenty to see within an easy drive. A perfect holiday!
