Laguna Holiday Resort Corfu

We complained, but management brushed us off. At 2am, staff told me I should have complained about a colleague shouting at that exact time. The manager said the shouting was acceptable and that music at 7am was normal, despite the hotel's quiet-hours policy from 10pm to 8am. I showed him video evidence and he still said there was nothing wrong. I couldn't upload the videos here. The room was damp, the fridge cupboard door was broken, and the bathroom had a missing light, a hole in the wall, grime around the mirror, and mould and dirt in the shower. Water sprayed onto the floor. Towels and bedding were dirty on some days, the mattress was awful, and the bed squeaked so badly we slept poorly. It was cleaned only three times in seven days. We could hear staff shouting across the corridor for long stretches after midnight, then music blaring when workers arrived at 7am. The cleaners were loud early in the morning, talking and banging equipment. Food looked fine at first, but was served warm, bland, oily, and seemed to be recycled day after day with almost no variety. We both got food poisoning. They said there was a different theme each night, but the meat was basically the same with a different sauce, if you were lucky. The snack bar had only a few sandwiches and chicken wings, and sandwiches were put out again if nobody had taken them. Even the water in the facilities and pool was salty, leaving our skin very dry and making us feel unwell in the heat. We arrived after midnight and weren't offered anything to eat or drink, though thankfully there was water in the room. A miserable holiday. The hotel and staff were awful.

We had a brilliant holiday from the moment we arrived. The staff were so friendly and knew the local activities well, and the rooms were spotless. Housekeeping checked in every day to ask if we wanted the room made up, even when we'd forgotten to put the sign out. As a vegetarian, I wasn't sure how the all-inclusive meals would work, but I found something to eat on most evenings. They gave us a sheet on arrival with the nightly themes, so I could plan to eat elsewhere on nights like fish and surf and turf. There was a wide food selection overall. Thanks so much to everyone at laguna, we'd love to come back.

Getting around the hotel was a struggle from the start. We had booked what was sold as a mobility friendly holiday, but the first room was on the first floor, separate from the main hotel and reachable only by stairs. When we questioned it, the staff member didn't understand the issue and told us to wait until morning. After we insisted on a change, we were told that was what we'd booked, then moved to another first-floor room. The lift there was tiny and couldn't fit a wheelchair or mobility scooter. To bring the scooter inside and charge it during thunderstorms, we had to lift it over two steps ourselves. A ramp had been promised but never appeared, causing us all pain and making my partner's condition worse. The shower's fixed glass panel left only about a foot of clearance, and steps in the dining area were very difficult for my partner. The pool was unusable, with broken filters and drains, no lifeguard, and paint that stained our feet blue. The pool bar toilet was disgusting: flushing sent water out from behind it and across the floor. Wasps were everywhere, with active nests visible around the building and apparently ignored. We were also told there'd be a free shuttle to town, but there wasn't one. Since the hotel is isolated, we spent an extra €500 on taxis. The advertised poolside and evening entertainment happened on only three days. Our room smelled constantly of sewage from the bathroom drain, whose collapsed cover had sharp edges. We were all left with painful, bleeding bites from what seemed to be a serious red ant infestation. The third bed had no bedding; when we asked, we received sheets but no pillow. My partner gave her pillow to my mother and used rolled towels instead. Our supposed garden view looked onto an abandoned broken car, metal fencing, and broken pallets. The room photos on the hotel's website were completely inaccurate. Meals were cold, greasy, watery, and seemed like leftovers from earlier days. We were told to heat them in a microwave ourselves. We were served raw chicken, and when we showed the chef, he shrugged. They kept serving it, and my partner became ill. Hundreds of flies were sitting on food and fruit in the dining room. Staff were unhelpful, and sometimes intimidating, when we raised concerns. For us, this was a miserable and unsafe stay. The place isn't suitable for the purpose it was sold for and should be investigated. Especially avoid it if you have mobility needs. We have photos as evidence.

The people working here made a huge difference. The reception team were kind and genuinely tried to help, and the waiters worked hard, kept things clean, and served the food with care. The all-inclusive meals were typical, but well presented. The cleaning staff were lovely, smiled and said hello, and kept the hotel spotless with thorough daily room cleaning. We arrived at Laguna Resort after a terrible experience at another hotel, and Mr Nikos immediately saw how upset we were. He reassured us, brought us water, showed us to our room, and explained the layout. I really appreciated that. Our standard double had a bed and a large sofa for my son. It was beautiful and clean, with a big balcony and tea and coffee facilities. When the weather turned cold, Billy at reception went out of his way to find us extra blankets while also helping other guests. He was so kind to me and my son. The location is unreal, with beautiful beaches nearby. Dennis, the local shopkeeper, and the nearby restaurants treated us so well. It was my first time in Corfu, and the locals are some of the loveliest people I've met. We were told about meal times, themed dinners, and entertainment. I can't name everyone, but the staff really do care about guests and go out of their way to sort things out. A perfect holiday for us. I can't wait to book again. Thank you, Laguna ❤️
