Mon Repos Palace - Adults Only

We’d definitely come back. The hotel is lovely, set in a stunning spot with great views, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It’s about a 25-minute walk to Corfu Old Town. We had lunch at Passagio one day, and it was beautifully presented and very good quality. The only downside was that the corridors felt a little tired, and the carpet looked ready to be replaced. The tiled floors in the rooms were lovely.

The room was spotless, comfortable, and nicely decorated, with little touches that made it feel homey. We also enjoyed the pool and the terrace by the sea, especially the sunsets. Mon Repos Palace had a calm, elegant feel that suited Corfu beautifully. The location was ideal, just a short walk from the old town, with lovely sea views. Staff were kind and attentive, always ready to help with a smile. Breakfast was delicious, with plenty of variety and fresh choices each morning. We had a wonderful stay and were already wishing we could return. Highly recommend.

This isn’t a four-star hotel. We were on the third floor, and both lifts were out of service for three of our five days. My wife struggles with stairs, but staff didn’t seem concerned or apologetic. The room was very basic and needed a revamp. The beds were hard, the bath was slippery to shower in, and the furniture was worn and knocked about. One lampshade had a water mark from earlier damage, and there was no mirror above the dressing table. The air conditioning didn’t work. After several days, a maintenance man, who seemed to work only evenings, decided it couldn’t be fixed and switched it off at the fuse box. The balcony door wouldn’t lock, and he eventually bodged a repair. The toilet seat was loose, was briefly fixed, then came loose again on our last day. Nobody from the hotel offered to come see the problems we reported. At times, staff implied we hadn’t turned the air conditioning on properly. Their token gesture was a bottle of wine, which we returned because we don’t drink alcohol, with no substitute offered, and a plate of fruit we could have had from the breakfast buffet. Even the main clock in the lounge showed the wrong time. Maintenance clearly seems to be a low priority. Overall, a disappointment.

Ferdi, one of the waiters, deserves a special mention. His service was outstanding every day, and he was always smiling and made us feel special. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the hotel was very clean. We enjoyed our stay at mon repos. Our bedroom was small but adequate, with clean, fresh bedding. We paid extra for a room with a good sea view, and the towelling robes were a nice touch. The buffet breakfast and dinner were both very good for their quality and range.
