Villa Elia Waterfront Suites & Pool

We booked nine nights, but after just one we left. The replacement room didn't match the size or location of the one we'd originally reserved, and the price situation didn't help. We were charged the full rate despite being unhappy with the room. I can only guess about the 150 EUR per night charge, whether a receipt was provided, or whether the room was rented again for the second night we had paid for, since we weren't there. The main reason we couldn't stay in room 102, on the ground floor at the right entrance, was the noise from two large generators placed right in front of it. One runs around the clock, apparently because the local grid may not supply enough power. Even with sound insulation, it was still very audible, especially at night. The low hum measured about 50Hz and 65dB inside the room, for anyone curious. I wouldn't rent out that room until the generator issue is fixed. It damages what is otherwise a beautiful resort. The complex is right on the sea and beautifully laid out, and the rooms have tasteful, minimalist decor. The kitchen area feels a bit too bare, though, and the small fridge is a disaster for a room in this category. It can't even make enough ice for a Fredo Caphuchino. The pool looks lovely, but its salt level is far too high. Saltwater pools don't need to be that salty. The tiles along its edge are also dangerously slippery. Inside, the warm decor is let down by cold white bulbs. There are lovely warm white LED bulbs available, and cold ones might be acceptable in the bathroom, but not the living area. The heavy balcony windows roll with a lot of force and could easily trap a child's or adult's fingers, so warning stickers are needed.
