Mari Beach

I don’t usually leave bad reviews, but this place earned one. We arrived at 10 pm and waited at least an hour because our rooms weren’t ready. What they eventually gave us were dirty rooms. Every day we asked them to clean or fix the problems, and they said they would, but never did. The smell inside was really unpleasant, so we had to keep the windows and door open.

The place has that typical Greek look and could have been great, but it’s badly run down. The photos seem to be from 15-20 years ago. Our towels were dirty, and no cleaning was done for the whole week. There were ants in the room. AC wasn’t included in the basic price, and cost 10 euros per day; it was loud too. Breakfast was a small, repetitive selection with little variety. Dinner included leftovers from the day before, the dishes weren’t labeled, and some tasted terrible. I also had the worst cocktail of my life at the bar. It was salty, and expensive.

All four rooms had a disgusting smell that made it nearly impossible to stay inside. We waited over an hour because they weren’t ready, and once we got in, some looked unused while others were dirty and hadn’t been cleaned. Over 8 days, cleaning happened only once. In some rooms they just took the rubbish and changed the towels once, and that was all. The staff were rude and careless. This was the worst accommodation experience we’ve had, completely unacceptable. I’d never recommend this place to anyone.

We left after just one night, even though we’d booked 13, because nothing was fixed. The room was still smelly, the same dead bugs were on the wall, and the bedbugs were still there. They had only “cleaned” the room and put on stained sheets after we asked for another room or some other solution. We’d given them the whole day while we went to the beach, but it made no difference. We didn’t sleep all night after something started biting us when we turned off the lights and got into bed. We didn’t think it was mosquitoes, then realized it was “bed bugs.” From outside, the hotel looked nice and well located on the beach, but inside the room there was a terrible moldy smell, dirty sheets, and moldy rubber in the shower. We bought air freshener to try to deal with the smell, but it didn’t help. Stay away if you want a relaxing holiday.
