Aegea Blue Cycladic Resort

The beach is only a five-minute walk down the road, and there's a pool too for days when you don't feel like swimming in the sea. Our villa had a wide-open view of the beach, the most scenic I've had in all my summers visiting Greece. Aegea Blue was quiet and calming, and the staff were friendly, quick to help, and accommodating when we extended our trip at the last minute. There's a restaurant by the villas and a taverna near the beach. If you're staying more than a few days, though, it's worth considering that there aren't nearby places to shop for a change of food. If you have a car, stop at a grocery store on your way so you can keep things in the fridge. I had an amazing stay and would definitely recommend it.

The units are more basic than the photos suggest, and the air conditioning barely made a difference during the very hot weather. The restaurant was just okay, and there isn't much to do besides enjoying the pool, the beach, and the view. It's very quiet here, so that's the pace of the place. The scenery is the big draw. You're partway up a beautiful mountain looking out over the ocean, and for the price it's hard to beat. The beach below is fabulous, though watch out for those washing-machine waves. Shops and other restaurants are back at the ferry port in Gavrio, about a 30-minute drive, which is a pretty one.

The family who runs this local business made us feel so welcome. The service was amazing, always with a big smile, and we loved both breakfast and dinner. Our room was excellent, and the swimming pool was great too. It's not close to the city center, but that's exactly what we wanted. The view is breathtaking. We love the owners and will visit again!

We rented a taxi from the port, and the ride to the hotel took about 40 minutes and cost €50. The hotel doesn't provide sunbeds on the beach, but that wasn't a problem for us since you can rent a couple for €12. There's also a nice pool on the property. The food was delicious, both breakfast and dinner, and you can order drinks to your taste, including cocktails, wine, and beer. Staff were friendly and helpful, and our room had an incredible view. Everything was clean and neat. If peace and beauty are what you're after, this is an ideal place for a holiday. We hadn't expected it to be so wonderful. My sincere recommendation.
