Victoria Hill Hotel

We had great views from the breakfast terrace, and the pool was kept clean and tidy. Breakfast had plenty of choice, but if something had run out, you had to ask the staff. The pool bar was closed, probably because it was near the end of the season. The hotel is set back from the main road, near bus stops for Corfu town and Ipsos. It takes ten minutes to walk to the beach, though the way passes dumpster bins. The room was clean and well maintained; the bathroom was small, and larger people might struggle to move around. The hotel is rated three star, which seemed in line with other Greek hotels, though below UK three-star standards. The drive up to the hotel is steep, so bear that in mind if mobility is a concern. Some airport transfers drop off and pick up on the road.

We stayed for two nights and it was just right for a short visit. The hotel is centrally located on a hill, and the rooms were fine, with good air conditioning and nice views. The beds felt luxurious, the pool was really nice, breakfast was very good, and the staff were super friendly.

The breakfast was a real bright spot, with generous sweet and savoury choices, served conveniently from 7:30 to 10:30. There are also lots of great restaurants nearby, which made dinner out enjoyable. Reception staff were welcoming and friendly, and stayed available until quite late. The room was clean, but there were no basic things like bottled water or coffee during the day. If you wanted something, you had to buy canned iced coffee. The pool was there but wasn't very clean, which disappointed me. The stay was generally okay, though it felt a bit overpriced for what you got. Maybe being close to the city explains the price.

The six of us came for a party holiday, and the hotel worked well for that. It looks nice from the outside, and the location is good: about 10-15 minutes down to the beach and 20-30 minutes to the clubs, leaving time to warm up along the way. The pool was especially nice, usually clean at night and pleasantly cool. The waitresses are cute. ;) Our rooms weren't as nice as the exterior. We were split between two rooms, with three people having to sleep in one room. The bathrooms didn't lock, and sometimes toilet paper couldn't be flushed. The food was greasy and almost always the same, though the make-your-own salad was actually quite good. I'd recommend this hotel 100% for a party holiday with friends, but the rooms and food could be nicer. Three stars.
