Acropole Delphi

My stay was a real letdown. We were on level -2, where the sound insulation was poor and the beds made so much noise that sleeping was difficult. Noise from upstairs went on constantly, and there was a dead cockroach in the bathroom too.

The location is hard to beat, though I didn't get a valley-facing room, so I missed out on the great view. The room was dated and cramped, which seems typical for a hotel in this class. Mine faced the street, and I could hear a phone conversation from the next room early in the morning. The fridge and number of outlets worked fine for me. The shower was the biggest problem. I'm only 5'1" and 120 lbs, and it felt designed for someone even smaller. After more than 40 years of traveling through many countries, I wouldn't remember this hotel as either the best or worst in its class. Service was adequate, though I didn't like staff walking back and forth through the dining room at breakfast, seemingly checking that we ate everything. I'd find breakfast somewhere else: the filter coffee was undrinkable, the whole wheat or rye bread was old and dry, and the other food seemed questionable.

The room had a nice view, but getting help could be difficult. The staff didn't speak English very well, and one man was rude. Maybe his poor English played a part, but he didn't even try to smile. The fridge was empty, not even a bottle of water, so you had to ask at reception for things. The desk is supposed to be open 24/7, but often nobody was there, especially from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Honestly, I'd avoid this hotel.

The hotel is actually four buildings farther down the road than its spot on Google Maps. Staff were helpful and nice, the rooms were clean, and the view from the balcony was amazing. Breakfast was good, and we could leave our bags at reception for the day. We had an excellent stay.
