Villa Maroulas

Everything felt peaceful and welcoming, and the host was always kind, warm and ready to help. We really enjoyed our stay. The setting was magical, and the place was exceptionally clean and beautifully maintained. We’d highly recommend it.

There’s a local taverna less than a minute’s walk away, and housekeeping is included in the rental price. The rooms are arranged so some are close together while others are more secluded for extra privacy. It’s a beautiful place for a large group or to host an event, with the owner’s permission. Yorghy, the owner, is so kind and helpful.

I’m almost reluctant to write such a glowing review because we’ll want to come back. Yorgi is an amazing host, and his place is incredible. He had dinner cooked for us on arrival, and it was ridiculously delicious. His knowledge of the island is extensive, and his recommendations were spot on.

We stayed here seven years ago and still remember the place fondly. The 15th-century vine-covered arches over the surrounding walkways, nearby ancient sites and local eateries within walking distance all made it feel magical. The castle itself was comfortable, and it had been reimagined by a daring architect some decades earlier as a bright, design-forward showplace. It still feels fresh, with impeccable finishes. Yorghi, the proprietor, was incredibly helpful and hospitable. He went well beyond what we expected, showing us points of interest in Maroulas and Rhythymon and introducing us to local people.
