Vegera Apartment 'Sofrano', Stavros Donoussa

We tried a range of things here, from breakfast and cakes to sandwiches, juices and coffee, and found them all very good. The orange cake was especially tasty. Prices are good, the owners are kind and friendly, and there’s free WiFi for customers. It’s a cozy, clean place in a calm neighborhood, just a few minutes’ walk from the port’s beach. Definitely worth a try if you’re in Donoussa.

The room is in the countryside, and we were met at the port and taken there. It was spacious, beautifully decorated and had all the amenities, including a very comfortable bathroom and a kitchen with everything needed to cook. The balcony was wonderful. The problems were with the linens and the door. The house rules said towels and sheets would be changed every three days, but during our four-night stay they weren’t changed at all. The door had two parts, and its lower section was hanging, so it took extra effort to lock. On one day we came back from the bathroom to find the owners had left the door unlocked. It opened without any effort. Luckily nothing was stolen, but if something had happened, it would have been serious. Reply to the owner: Thanks for the clarifications. Like everyone else, I know about the general water shortage. Still, it’s necessary to record that the door was left unlocked, whether or not I mentioned it at the time, because it raises a security concern. Recognising and addressing issues matters for improving the guest experience.

The room was beautiful and fully equipped, and the hostess was very kind and helpful. Its location is extremely convenient, right by the island’s main beach and the port.
