Cretan Family Villa

We were a group of 12 adults, and the villa worked really well for us. The kitchens on each floor were useful, though we mostly used the ground-floor one since it was best equipped and opened easily onto the pool and terrace. There were too few wine glasses, but otherwise we had everything we needed. The upper and ground floors felt especially new, and the place was very clean. We were pleasantly surprised when it was cleaned once during our seven-day stay. Maria, our attentive hostess, also gave us tips for excursions every day. The view over the city and sea is amazing. Nearby, there are olive trees, chickens and a few goats; the chickens were lively in the morning, so we needed to sleep with the windows shut, but the neighborhood was otherwise very quiet. There are fruit trees and vegetables on the property that guests may use, and the tomatoes were delicious. The beach village, with a few shops and good restaurants, is about 10 minutes away. Chania and Rhetymnon take 45 to 60 minutes to reach, which was fine for us. Getting to the villa on the unpaved road is a bit arduous. An SUV would be handy, though it isn’t essential and you get used to the road.

The welcome was attentive and communication with the owners went smoothly. We had a wonderful family stay in this magnificent villa, set between vineyards and olive groves with breathtaking mountain and sea views. It’s also close to Chania and local attractions. Everything was perfect!

What stood out was the beautiful view across the village to the sea, especially the lights in the evening. It was wonderfully peaceful, and there are nice places to eat or have a drink nearby, plus plenty of shops. If anything came up, we only had to mention it and we were helped very kindly. The road is easier in a car other than a Panda, though you do get used to it. Thanks, Leo.

The host was great, available 24/7 and took care of everything. Whatever we asked for, it was sorted out. The villa is beautiful and away from the city. A car is a good idea since the road there is not the shortest or best. We’d happily come back!
