Hotel Elena Ermones

I never actually stayed at Elena Ermones, so I can’t comment on the accommodation, location, or pool. But I can explain why I nearly booked there and why I’m very glad I didn’t. I’d booked two weeks, non-refundable with no cancellation, after reading lovely comments about the staff, location, and sunsets. I also saw some one star reviews complaining about the owner’s behavior. One couple had arrived after midnight from a flight and found nobody to let them in. They had to take a taxi and stay elsewhere, then come back the next day and deal with a very messy, unpleasant encounter with the owner. My flight was due in at 23:10, so I called the hotel directly to warn them and hopefully avoid the same problem. A rude, exasperated, impatient man, the son, answered. I explained when my flight arrived, and he said no one would stay up. He told me to find somewhere else for that first night. I explained that I’d paid for it and the booking couldn’t be refunded, but that didn’t matter to them. After some back and forth, the hotel cancelled my booking because of my arrival time. Now, a week and a half before I’m due to leave, I have to find somewhere else. I’ve traveled for 25 years for work and never had a hotel tell me I couldn’t check in after 11pm. So if you’re booking Elena Ermones and have a late flight, protect yourself. If your flight is delayed and the stay is non-refundable, keep pressing them to offer a free cancellation. Their website and the booking sites don’t warn that check-in closes at 23:00. I felt like I’d dodged a bullet. The person I spoke to was part of the owner’s family, and if that’s how they treat guests, I don’t want to be anywhere near the hotel. Huge thanks to the couple whose review saved my holiday. Good luck if you choose to stay there. I’m off to find real Greek hospitality elsewhere.

The sunset is amazing from a room facing the beach, so I’d recommend booking one. Breakfast is why I can’t give five stars. It was included, but the choices were limited and there wasn’t much variety, even though we stayed for six nights.

The room had an amazing view, and the service was great. Everyone was sweet and helpful, and the food was delicious. The beach, a restaurant, a supermarket, and a great pizzeria were all a short walk away. The pool was huge and very clean, with enough sunbeds to relax and watch the sunset.

A calm, peaceful place for a getaway, with friendly staff who are always smiling. Breakfast was great, the pool was nice, and the sea is very close. The location also makes it easy to reach beautiful spots in both the north and south. Highly recommend!
