Getting around Ermoupoli was easy from here, and there aren’t too many stairs. There’s an accessible road nearby for deliveries. I booked through booking, everything went as expected, and a friendly, cheerful guy showed me around.

In mid-June 2023, we stayed in a gorgeous former mansion. Our room was quiet, beautifully decorated, and had everything we needed, including a large, lovely bathroom and air conditioning. The balcony had a fantastic sea view. Since the place is high up, opening the front and side windows and the balcony doors let in a cooling breeze as the weather got hotter. We enjoyed taking the city stairs to and from the mansion, though taxis can take you both ways if you’d rather not walk. Syros charmed us with its neoclassical buildings, good restaurants, and friendly people. It ended up being our favorite Cyclades island. Vicky was a kind and helpful host, and we highly recommend staying here.

The top-floor room had a huge balcony terrace on the roof, with a lovely town and sea view and a comfortable lounger. The decor was classy and suited the price. Getting there on foot with bags means tackling lots of steep stairs, so take a taxi if you have big luggage. I was puzzled that the room was made up on just one of our days, and we needed more clothes hangers. The shared kitchen was very limited, with little crockery. We only saw the host for five minutes when we arrived. It would have been nice to hear more about the area and restaurants with a tourist map, and to have a folder of local information for an AirBNB style stay.

The rooms have a lovely modern look with a homey feel, and it’s a peaceful place to enjoy Ermoupolis. The owners are a delightful couple who look after their guests well. They picked us up at the port and suggested places to visit. The port is nearby, but there are lots of stairs between it and the hotel, which is just how the town is laid out. The port and main street are still only a five to ten minute walk down.

The hosts were very friendly and happy to share tips and directions for Syros. The apartment was beautifully designed, with thoughtful little details that added something special. It felt like high-end accommodation, and the balcony view was outstanding. You may want to take a couple of pictures.
