Castro Hotel Syros

We could walk to the waterfront, shops, restaurants, town and rock pool from the hotel. The room was fabulous, with a modern designer bathroom, and breakfast was out of this world. Carolina welcomed us warmly, showed us to our room, and brought an iron and ironing board at check-in. The welcome lemon drink with Syros loukoumi (Greek delight) was delicious. We also had the little comforts you expect from a 5 star hotel but don't always get, like face washers, slippers and bath robes. The staff were all wonderful: Carolina, Ellen and Maria at reception, and Aphrodite at breakfast. Highly recommend this hotel. Couldn't fault it or its amazing staff. EXCEPTIONAL.

The hotel is really handy for getting around Ermoupoli. The port is about a 10 minute walk, and you can reach most of town on foot. Reception can also arrange taxis even when you're elsewhere on Syros. We stayed four nights in May at the Castro Prestige Suite and had a great time. The room was excellent, and the tub filled quickly, which we appreciated since slow-filling tubs drive us crazy. Service was warm and helpful, and breakfast was great. We hope to come back next year!

I had a great three-night stay at this superb boutique hotel. Staff were amazing and took care of concierge services, booking and organizing everything for me. Breakfast was mostly à la carte, with a very small buffet. The hotel has only 8-10 rooms. There's no gym, and there was a spa, but I didn't use it, so I can't comment on it. Definitely good value for money.

We loved the room's charm and atmosphere, with lots of space, lovely details and great bathroom amenities. Breakfast was included and had wonderful healthy choices, freshly squeezed orange juice and delicious Freddo Espresso. The staff have plenty of history to share, and the whole team came out to wish us safe travels when we left. Such a kind gesture. The hotel sits right by the water in the main city, on a quiet, tucked-away street. It was lovely walking to the local city beach, where you can request their great beach towels, and to the church at the end of the street. We got a warm, friendly welcome from two employees, and knew we'd chosen well for our three nights in Syros. Enjoy the beautiful room, good value and wonderful Greek hospitality. We'd absolutely recommend it and come back when we're in Syros.
