Old Windmill Studios

The centre of Falaraki is about a ten-minute walk away, and the bus route is right there too, so getting to Rhodes old town is easy. It's a nice, simple hotel, very clean, with great staff and a good pool.

We stayed eight nights, arriving on Saturday night. Cleaning came on Monday and Wednesday, then from Wednesday through Sunday there was no cleaning or change of bedsheets. The room itself had good food, an okay pool, and the owners' son was friendlier than the owners. The hotel is also right by a busy, noisy road, and the air conditioning wasn't very good. Room 205 was missing a curtain. Streetlights came in at night, and during the day the sun heated the room. When we asked about fixing it, we were told to take a pool towel, but there was nowhere to hang it, so it only covered the door, not the window. I bought a few self-adhesive hooks at a shop, but the sun made them fall off the next day. Ask for the air conditioning key and safe key when you check in, as those aren't included. The pool is a lovely, intimate spot to relax, and Irene brings fresh towels each day if you need one by the pool. The food was excellent and nicely presented every day. Our room had everything we needed, though I'd say get the air conditioning from day one. It's worth the 10 euros a day. We arrived very late, but Irene and Jordan were there to greet us. Check-in was quick and easy, and we were in our room in no time. The whole family made us feel welcome and looked after, as if we'd been invited into their home. George kept us laughing with jokes about rubbish and friendly chats, and sometimes joined us at the table when he had a bit of spare time. Thank you, Irene and family, for such a wonderful stay.

The homemade food was fresh and tasty, and we enjoyed the cocktails we tried. The pool area is pleasant and relaxing. Irene gave us a very warm welcome when we arrived, and the room was really nice. I'd recommend getting the air conditioning from the first day.
