We picked Dolphin Apartaments for the mix of unspoiled scenery and simple, traditional accommodation, and ended up loving the garden as much as the beach. It’s a little green oasis in an otherwise dry area, with local trees around the 8 or 9 houses. We stayed nine nights and still found it hard to leave the grounds. Christos was a lovely host, full of stories and tips for exploring nearby. Shops and a couple of local tavernas with traditional food and great service are only a few minutes away on foot. Cross the road and you’re at a lovely sandy beach with a great beach bar. Early risers can have it almost to themselves until around 9:30-10:00. We had a great time in Frangokastello and are planning to return.

The garden was beautiful, the apartment had everything we needed, and it was spotless. The beach is just across the road, and the hospitality was lovely. Highly recommend!

The grounds are what make this place special: lush green lawn even in mid-August, shady trees, figs and citrus to wander among. You can see the care, time and water that go into it. It’s a lovely setup for children, though we enjoyed it without any. Our apartment was roomy and pleasant, with the essentials. A few spices and dish soap would have helped, but nearby mini markets are reasonably priced. The one thing we struggled with was the beds. Other guests seemed fine with them, so maybe it was just bad luck for us. The hosts were warm and attentive, and we felt the stay justified a price that seemed a little higher than other places in the village. We’ve traveled widely and stayed in several places in Frangokastello, Crete, so we’re happy to give Dolphin Apartments five stars and recommend it.

Our kids loved the garden, and the apartments were spacious and clean. The hosts were friendly and helpful, too. It’s about a two-minute walk to a lovely sandy beach, with plenty of other beautiful beaches nearby.

You can lounge in a hammock in the lovely gardens, and the beach is only about two minutes away. The owners were super friendly, and our apartment was very clean and had everything we needed.
