House of Dimitra

We felt at home at House of Dimitra, and I can't recommend it enough. It's high on the slopes above Gaios, about five minutes from the port by car. Finding the way in the first time is a little tricky, but the owners are really nice and helpful. There's a comfortable parking court under old olive trees, plus a lovely garden full of trees and flowers. Other properties surround the house, but it was usually very quiet. In the morning we heard birds chirping; in the evening, the wind moving through the trees. The patio is huge, with plenty of room for meals outdoors. There's also a barbecue that you can use by agreement with the hosts, since fires on the island always need care. The house has five rooms. Downstairs, two have ensuite bathrooms and one uses the bathroom off the hallway. Upstairs, two rooms have balconies and share a bathroom. The rooms are similar, spacious, and have dressers, a little vanity, and a fridge. We had towels changed every day, a dryer, bottles of water, blankets, and extra blankets. The two balconies are wonderful, with the house set high enough to see both the east and west shore. The house is kept so clean we felt bad making a mess. The lady owner came in every day and made everything spotless while we were out enjoying the beach. The kitchen is very well equipped, and the owners were happy to help with anything we needed. The living room was lovely too, and had us hooked on the TV on a rainy evening. PS: lady Dimitra is a masterful artist, and she painted all the beautiful pictures throughout the house ❤️
