Drosia Hotel

For a two-star place, this felt like remarkable value. I especially appreciated how welcoming everyone was and the great service, including being able to check in early since our room was already available. The beds, price, and location were all good too. It’s a short walk to the beach and close to the town square, restaurants, and shops. I'd easily recommend it.

A comfortable room, with a surprisingly large fridge and a shower bigger than at similar hotels. The staff were really friendly and accommodating. A lovely hotel.

This was 2019: We’ve stayed in plenty of hotels and apartments in Georgiopolis, but Drosia has won us over. Christina, the warm-hearted owner, really makes sure guests are cared for. The room is basic but spotless and has what you need: a fridge, kettle, cutlery and crockery. Ask Christina for anything else and she’ll find it. I especially liked the shower setup. The long curtain kept the bathroom floor dry, which hasn’t always been my experience in Greek rooms. We slept soundly, helped by the Raki Christina left on day 2 and the two sliding balcony doors, one of them blackout, which kept the room quiet at night. The air con worked really well. There’s a hairdryer, a plug by the mirror with a light above it, individual wall lights over the beds, and lots of hanging space. WiFi is free and mostly works well. Towels and bedding were changed more often than we needed, and the room was cleaned every day. Evenings on the balcony, watching the world go by, were lovely. It’s probably one of the cheapest places to stay in GP, but it had everything we wanted and more. The main square, harbour, beach and lovely tavernas are only a few meters away. And now in 2022, after an enforced absence and a few cancellations: Drosia is still as friendly and welcoming as ever. Christina goes out of her way to make the stay relaxed and comfortable. The rooms are spotless and equipped with a fridge, kettle and utensils. Just ask if you need anything else. The prices are more than reasonable. It’s very quiet inside, thanks to the double balcony doors, including the blackout one, but the location by the bridge is handy for a stroll to the many tavernas, Kalivaki beach or the town beach for an early swim, and the eucalyptus tree road by the river for the occasional run. The bus stops for Rethymnon and Chania are a few hundred meters down the road, opposite the hotel, if you fancy going further afield for a few drinks. We had a car for some daytime trips and visits to the long beach further east. Parking in the hotel forecourt was easy, close and felt safe. We wouldn’t stay anywhere else. This time, we brought friends who loved it as much as we do and are already talking about booking again. It was a peaceful spot and really good value. The rooms were spacious and spotless, with a fridge and kettle, and there was a shared kitchen too for preparing food. The owners were polite and very helpful, happy to chat about food, things to do and sights to see. I wholeheartedly recommend it. Thanks so much for having us!
