Congo Palace Hotel

I was here on a business trip, and the check-in was pleasant. The next day, though, the reception staff seemed distinctly unfriendly. Even with a “Do Not Disturb” sign on my door, they called my room while I was working. At 10:00, most of the breakfast was gone and nothing was being replenished. The room was poor quality, the bathroom water pressure was a problem, and the facilities generally felt old and neglected. It seems like almost everything has an issue. This is certainly not what I expect from a 4-star hotel, and it badly needs renovation.

We enjoyed our stay and would recommend this hotel in Glyfada. Sokol was especially kind and knowledgeable, and the rest of the staff were helpful too. The rooms are a good size, with lovely balconies, comfortable beds, and a kettle with tea and coffee. The shower had plenty of pressure and hot water. There’s a swimming pool for days when you’re not out sightseeing. The location is excellent, close to lovely restaurants and shops. The beach is across a busy highway toward Athens. The reception arranged for the City Sightseeing hop-on hop-off bus to stop outside. I’d read some poor reviews, but they didn’t reflect our experience here.

Our EF tour group stayed here. The breakfast spread was amazing, and my room’s balcony had a nice view. The rooms felt a bit bare, but had everything we needed.

The old building had odd smells in both the rooms and corridors, and traffic on the main road kept going all night. Staff were unpleasant, too. They provide two bottles of water only on the first day, so you have to buy it after that, on top of the overpriced charges. One of the worst hotels in Athens. Avoid it if you’re visiting Athens. 👎👎👎
