During the November 25 harvest, I joined the Retreat experience because I’m hoping to regenerate my family grove in AUS. I’m really grateful to the hosts for sharing what they’ve learned about caring for their ancient olive trees and improving yield with natural farming methods. It was easy to wander through the grove at leisure or get involved and work with our hands. We picked olives, learned tree pruning, took cooking classes, tasted oil and wine, made soap, visited the mill, toured local favorite sights and venues, and went stargazing. The farm-to-table meals were amazing, with wines paired from local growers. Homemade breakfast was delivered to our private rooms each morning, ready for us to enjoy. The olive oil tasting with the owners was incredibly informative, and I left feeling even more connected to my ancestral land of Greece. My fiancé and I were greeted so warmly. Their farm is beautiful and clearly intentional. I highly recommend a visit, and we’ll be back to stay in their accommodation.

What makes Eumelia special is the mix of comfort and a real connection to Greece’s land, people and history. We felt deeply rested there. The luxurious accommodation and excellent meals made us feel thoroughly pampered, while the serene setting in an ancient olive orchard gave us a powerful sense of history. Some of the trees are as old as the Parthenon. Frangiskos and Marilena were gracious, sociable hosts. We enjoyed seeing the property and hearing about Frangiskos’ path to becoming a farmer on his family’s land. Marilena shared helpful recommendations and made wonderfully fresh breakfasts and dinners, so good we wished we had more room. The olive oil tasting was a delightful surprise, and I’d recommend it.

The Olive Harvest Retreat was hands down one of the best experiences of my life. We stayed in lovely houses, and each night breakfast was restocked so we could prepare it the next morning. The food was amazing. The setting is stunning too, an ancient olive grove with trees said to be 2,000 to 3,000 years old, with mountains all around. I highly recommend the retreat and this place.
