Molfetta Beach Hotel

The beach and those views made our stay in Gouvia feel so relaxing. It starts sandy and gets pebbly near the water, and our €20 sunbeds and umbrella were worth it for the whole day. We could leave for food and come back, or order drinks and meals to the lounger. There were also lots of bars and restaurants nearby, so we didn't need to travel far. We stayed at the Molfetta Beach Hotel for five nights in June, and the staff gave us a lovely welcome, with helpful advice about getting around and places to visit. The hotel is charming, with flowers and plants on the walls. Our simple room was clean and had a balcony with a partial sea view. Breakfast ran until 11, which meant we could sleep in, and there was a decent selection to eat outside in the sun. Just outside is a pretty bar and restaurant area with plenty of seating, some overlooking the sea. On Monday, professional Latin dancers performed, and it was fun to watch. The peaceful, friendly atmosphere was perfect for a romantic trip for two.

The Molfetta Hotel's location was lovely, just by the beach, with beautiful views. We could walk to restaurants, markets, souvenir shops, and bus stops in a few minutes. The grounds were well kept, and our room was cleaned every day. We had a sea view room with a good sized balcony, table and chairs, which was perfect for my morning yoga. The room was basic but had what we needed, including air conditioning and a mini fridge. The bed was smaller and harder than we're used to in the USA, but we still slept well. The bathroom had good water pressure and plenty of hot water. The staff were friendly and patient with all our questions. Breakfast was available for three hours and had plenty of food and drinks; we especially liked the sweet breads and cappuccinos. My husband and I loved our stay and can't wait to return.

Friendly staff, and it's close to the small beach. That's about it for me. The rooms look original from the 1980s, the smell of sewage was bad, and our room was tiny. The promised sea view was really just a five meter view of the neighbor's balcony and the street. The bed felt like a trampoline, and the pillows were terrible for a week’s sleep. Breakfast was lousy. Check the photos and avoid it until they renovate and rethink the concept. I'd avoid Gouvia altogether too, since there's nothing to do.

There’s no pool, but the beach is only a 30 second walk away. Molfetta is a traditional Greek building, and while it isn't a Hilton, it suited our family well for a week. The rooms are clean, basic, and well equipped, and nights were quiet. The staff were lovely, helpful, and made us feel at home. Mini markets, a bakery, and restaurants are within a minute on foot. Corfu town is about 15 minutes away by bus, which costs a couple of euros, or by taxi for 25 euros. The locals were so friendly too. We'd definitely come back.
